אֵשֶׁת־חַיִל מִי יִמְצָא וְרָחֹק מִפְּנִינִים מִכְרָהּ:
Eshet chayil mi yimtza, verachok mipninim michrah.
A woman of valor, who can find? Her worth is far beyond pearls.
בָּטַח בָּהּ לֵב בַּעְלָהּ וְשָׁלָל לֹא יֶחְסָר:
Batach bah lev ba'lah, veshalal lo yechsar.
Her husband’s heart trusts in her, and he shall lack no gain.
גְּמָלַתְהוּ טוֹב וְלֹא־רָע כֹּל יְמֵי חַיֶּיהָ:
Gemalat'hu tov velo ra, kol yemei chayeha.
She does him good and not harm all the days of her life.
דָּרְשָׁה צֶמֶר וּפִשְׁתִּים וַתַּעַשׂ בְּחֵפֶץ כַּפֶּיהָ:
Darsha tzemer ufishtim, vata'as bechefetz kapeha.
She seeks out wool and flax and works with willing hands.
הָיְתָה כָּאֳנִיּוֹת סוֹחֵר מִמֶּרְחָק תָּבִיא לַחְמָהּ:
Hayta ka'oniyot socher, mimerchak tavi lachmah.
She is like the merchant ships; she brings her bread from afar.
וַתָּקָם בְּעוֹד לַיְלָה וַתִּתֵּן טֶרֶף לְבֵיתָהּ וְחֹק לְנַעֲרֹתֶיהָ:
Vatakom be'od layla, vatiten teref leveitah, vechok lena'aroteha.
She rises while it is still night, gives food to her household and a portion to her maidens.
זָמְמָה שָׂדֶה וַתִּקָּחֵהוּ מִפְּרִי כַפֶּיהָ נָטְעָה כָּרֶם:
Zamemah sadeh vatikachehu, mipri chapeha nat'ah karem.
She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
חָגְרָה בְּעוֹז מָתְנֶיהָ וַתְּאַמֵּץ זְרוֹעֹתֶיהָ:
Chagrah be'oz motneha, vate'ametz zro'oteha.
She girds her loins with strength and makes her arms strong.
טָעֲמָה כִּי־טוֹב סַחְרָהּ לֹא־יִכְבֶּה בַּלַּיְלָה נֵרָהּ:
Ta'amah ki tov sachrah, lo yichbeh balayla nerah.
She sees that her trade is good; her lamp does not go out at night.
יָדֶיהָ שִׁלְּחָה בַכִּישׁוֹר וְכַפֶּיהָ תָּמְכוּ פָלֶךְ:
Yadeha shilchah vakishor, vechapeha tamchu falech.
She puts her hands to the distaff, and her palms hold the spindle.
כַּפָּהּ פָּרְשָׂה לֶעָנִי וְיָדֶיהָ שִׁלְּחָה לָאֶבְיוֹן:
Kapah parsah le'ani, veyadeha shilchah la'evyon.
She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy.
לֹא־תִירָא לְבֵיתָהּ מִשָּׁלֶג כִּי כָל־בֵּיתָהּ לָבֻשׁ שָׁנִים:
Lo tira leveitah mishaleg, ki chol beitah lavush shanim.
She does not fear the snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in warm garments.
מַרְבַדִּים עָשְׂתָה־לָּהּ שֵׁשׁ וְאַרְגָּמָן לְבוּשָׁהּ:
Marvadim astah lah, shesh ve'argaman levushah.
She makes herself coverings; her clothing is fine linen and purple.
נוֹדָע בַּשְּׁעָרִים בַּעְלָהּ בְּשִׁבְתּוֹ עִם־זִקְנֵי־אָרֶץ:
Noda bashe'arim ba'lah, beshivto im ziknei aretz.
Her husband is known at the gates, where he sits among the elders of the land.
סָדִין עָשְׂתָה וַתִּמְכֹּר וַחֲגוֹר נָתְנָה לַכְּנַעֲנִי:
Sadin astah vatimkor, vachagor natnah lakna'ani.
She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies belts to the merchant.
עוֹז־וְהָדָר לְבוּשָׁהּ וַתִּשְׂחַק לְיוֹם אַחֲרוֹן:
Oz vehadar levushah, vatischak leyom acharon.
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the days to come.
פִּיהָ פָּתְחָה בְחָכְמָה וְתוֹרַת־חֶסֶד עַל־לְשׁוֹנָהּ:
Piha patchah vechochmah, veTorat chesed al leshonah.
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
צוֹפִיָּה הֲלִיכוֹת בֵּיתָהּ וְלֶחֶם עַצְלוּת לֹא תֹאכֵל:
Tzofiyah halichot beitah, velechem atzlut lo tochel.
She watches over the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
קָמוּ בָנֶיהָ וַיְאַשְּׁרוּהָ בַּעְלָהּ וַיְהַלְלָהּ:
Kamu vaneha vay'ashruha, ba'lah vay'hallelah.
Her children rise and call her blessed; her husband praises her:
רַבּוֹת בָּנוֹת עָשׂוּ חָיִל וְאַתְּ עָלִית עַל־כֻּלָּנָה:
Rabot banot asu chayil, ve'at alit al kulana.
«Many women have done worthily, but you surpass them all.»
שֶׁקֶר הַחֵן וְהֶבֶל הַיֹּפִי אִשָּׁה יִרְאַת־יְיָ הִיא תִתְהַלָּל:
Sheker hachen vehevel hayofi, isha yir'at Adonai hi tit'hallal.
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; a woman who fears Adonai, she shall be praised.
תְּנוּ־לָהּ מִפְּרִי יָדֶיהָ וִיהַלְלוּהָ בַשְּׁעָרִים מַעֲשֶׂיהָ:
Tenu lah mipri yadeha, vihaleluha vashe'arim ma'aseha.
Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her deeds praise her at the gates.
